A6 is a group of interested peers with the sole purpose of improving the Baton Rouge area.
When the group formed in 2003, it was decided that a lot of energy for a small amount
of time was the best way to engage busy citizens in worthy projects. Issues like
promoting downtown, bike paths, parks and recreation all were well in play. These
were all positive projects where a small group of A6 members self-
The process is simple. Conceptualize a project, identify a VPL (Volunteer Project Leader), announce the project, and attract people who wanted to participate. The process of working a project was:
1). Look at ALL aspects (sides) of the issue. Spend a couple of weeks as a group “seeking first to understand” all sides by gathering information, meeting with stakeholders, and reconvening to consider what was learned.
2). Apply the principle of A6 and release that outcome. This desired outcome of the group is to develop a position it feels best represents the best for the improvement of the Baton Rouge area. Period. No BS. No politics.
3. ) The work is done.
